EV Battery Tray for Electric Vehicle Platform

Challenge

Customer needed a large aluminum battery tray (800mm x 400mm) with integrated cooling channels, flatness of 0.1mm across the mounting surface, and IP67 sealing capability for an EV platform launch.

Solution

BestField used large-format 5-axis CNC machining on Aluminum 6061-T6 with custom vacuum fixtures. Cooling channels were machined with ball-end mills for smooth flow. Seal grooves held ±0.05mm tolerance.

Result

  • Flatness achieved: 0.08mm (spec: 0.1mm)
  • IP67 leak test passed on 100% of production units
  • PPAP Level 3 submission approved on first attempt
  • Scaled to 5,000 units/month production rate
